View From Purcell, Oklahoma: Beaver Lake, AR (June 30, 2012)

Beaver Lake, AR (June 30, 2012)

Beaver Lake, AR

We spent the weekend at Beaver Lake in Rogers, Arkansas. The water was quite warm and the kids had a good time jumping off the houseboat and riding on the wet bikes. This lake is much clearer than most Oklahoma lakes and the water was quite a bit warmer than what we get around here. I know the water is clearer since Beaver Lake is in a mountainous area while our lakes are holes dug in the ground or dammed up ravines.

Kids and me

There was a fireworks show that night and it was a pretty good show. This was their inaugural show at Prairie Creek Marina, Rogers, Arkansas.

If I get a chance I will turn the fireworks into a presentation, but pressed for time at the moment.

As you can see the water level is down substantially. According to the locals it is about 12' below normal. It makes a few more 'beaches' available, but it sure adds to the water hazards.

How about the fishing?  I am sure the kids had a ball in the water on a hot weekend.

My aunt lives in Rogers.  I used to spend summers on my grandparents farm near there.  Looks like you had a great trip.
