Daily Devotional: Why Does a Good God Let Bad Things Happen?

Prayer Starter: God, I may not always understand why bad things happen, but I know that You are good. When I don't understand why, I will find my comfort in You.

James 1:17 Every good thing given and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

God doesn't do bad things, but bad things do happen. Bad things happen because Satan is out there throwing things at us. Trying to distract us and hoping we will blame God and pull away from him.

Luke 13:4 always comes to mind when I see this question. Jesus was telling us, bad things happen and to good people. That's life. It's where are hearts are at any given time that is important. There's that Father of Lights again!!

It is always difficult to answer that question...but trust in the Lord and all things will be good.
